Welcome to Donnelly Maine Coons! DMC Cattery began during the pandemic, and is getting ready for three litters of kittens in 2022! Our Maine Coon kittens are socialized, and used to playing with my grandkids, which leads to good interactions with other people. The kittens are raised in our home, without any other animals, in the cattery. Queen Sahara was bred with another European Maine Coon, King Mufaso, both TICA registered cats, for its first litter born on April 12, 2021, of five beautiful kittens. Our Maine Coon kittens have beautiful tufted Lynx-like ears, boxy faces, are big boned, and have exotic colors and patterns.
What is a Maine Coon?
Maine Coon cats are known as the "gentle giants" because they grow to be between 12 and 25 pounds, with a height of 10-16 inches. They are the state cat of Maine, and there are tales that they came over to Massachusetts on Marie Antoinette's ship! Some claim that Maine Coons are descended from the Norwegian Forest Cat. Regardless of their origin, unlike many other pure-bred cats, they are quite affectionate and loyal to their owners. Maine Coon cats are highly intelligent, and can be taught to fetch, and perform other tricks. All of these traits make them wonderful companions and pets!
The Donnelly Commitment
Our Inspiration
Donnelly Maine Coons was started after my Nana Jan, my Mom, crossed over. That year, we also lost our Maine Coon cat, Nemo, who had been with us for over ten years. I wanted to start breeding Maine Coons in memory of my Mom. So Donnelly Maine Coons cattery officially launched on Nana Jan's birthday, February 8.
